Help
The following are issues regarding Pryda's Designer Software which have been brought to our attention by program users.
Whenever I open Pryda Frame, it shows an Automatic Updates dialogue- but the update doesn't work
Unfortunately, the automatic update system (created by a software company) doesn't work on some computers. Pryda has tried to overcome these problems, but was unsuccessful.

The dialogue can be "turned off" in Pryda Frame at Defaults > Setup. Then click Automatic Updates and Off.
After installing Pryda Frame on computers with Microsoft Vista system, the computers froze. How can this be overcome?
Pryda tests showed Pryda Frame ran fine on a computer with Vista Home Edition. However, other editions of Vista have more restrictions on program installation and running. Pryda suggests enquiries about this be made to the computer vendor or Microsoft.
Can I run Pryda Designer Software on an Apple Macintosh computer?
Apple has software and systems for running Windows on its computers. Information is gven on the Apple web site: www.apple.com.
How can I get updates for the Pryda Designer Software?
Program users (including Pryda customers) can update their Designer software from this web site at Software > Current Versions.

Double click on the software link (red bold text) and chose to either download the update file or run it.
How can I design roof trusses in the Pryda Truss Designer?
The Pryda Truss Designer provides basic designs for parallel chord floor and roof trusses only.

For design or quotes on other types of trusses, or full designs of parallel chord trusses, contact a Pryda Licensed Fabricator. For Fabricators in your area, use the search facility on this site at Fabricator Search.
Why are allowable truss spans or Roof Load Widths for Common Studs much greater than years ago?
In late 1999, the maximum allowable deflection for studs under wind load was changed from 12 mm to 20 mm- in Australian Standard (AS)1684 Residential timber framed construction. This lead to the substantial increases in RLW. Pryda Frame's output is comparable to the AS1684 Span Tables.
How can I restrict the number of sizes listed in the output table?
The Size limits option allows for this. Click on the Current Value to open the Size Limits dialogue. Then select Yes and enter the maximum and minimum depth and breadth required.

For girder trusses, supported by wall lintels, what is carriage?
"Carriage" is the span of the trusses supported by the girder. See diagram opposite.
